I went to a lollapalloza one year to get my ass kicked by Ministry, which did happen - They actually SCARED me. Awesome. Anyway, like any multi-band fare, there's always an underdog. For me it was the Jesus & Mary Chain. They won. Anyway, there were a lot of youngsters there, and that vision of kids tucking away their metal stuff & trying to desparately look as uncool as the J&M chain looked was kind of interesting. Like watching the shoegazer trend happen right before my eyes. Because they rocked so hard and it looked like they just didn't care made an impact on lots of kiddie rockers ready to shed the grunge & go euro meets kentucky. So - Idolatry. First of all, making a song where you can say Jesus a lot makes you feel cool, like you're violating some sort of moral code singing Jesus in the secular rock and roll world...
